In running a public business establishment, there are certain requirements to be submitted in accordance with rules and regulations of the government. One requirement that is mandatory for all public business is the submission of the annual financial statements. The annual financial statements is interpreted and evaluated by a highly credible professional. This professional that handles financial statements is the Business Accounting Analyst.

The Professional Business Accounting Analyst focuses their work in checking the financial statements of the public business to ensure that the facts are valid and credible. These financial statements are to be submitted to the Security and Exchange Commission. The financial statements include the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Retained Earnings and Statement of Cash Flows. The business accountant makes sure that all the financial information of the public business establishment is presented in a form that is easy to understand.

Financial statements must be made properly in a structured manner because these are legal documents to be submitted to the government. The Business accountant therefore must have a complete understanding of the financial accounting principles. They should also be completely knowledgeable on the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles from the Financial Accounting Standards Board. These accounting principles are basically applied on the public companies but may also be applied in private companies as well. This is not mandatory for the private sectors because the government believes that private sectors have more knowledge and resources on that matter.

The Business Accounting Analyst proves their capacity by owning a degree or specialty in their field. Most of them may hold a Masters Degree in Accounting. Some hold a Masters in Business Administration title. The business analyst may be designated as a certified public accountant. The work of the Professional Business Analyst has similar nature with the work of a Certified Public accountant despite the difference in title.
